“To live God’s love and show God’s grace through worship, fellowship and outreach”

We organized in 1854 under the direction of the New River Presbytery. Today we are a Presbyterian Church (USA) church in the Abingdon Presbytery in the Synod of the Mid-Atlantic.

We strive to be a community of Jesus Christ where you are welcome to be yourself, where you are able to seek answers to your faith and life questions, and where you are able to put your faith into action serving in Jesus’ name. Our vision for ministry can be seen in the areas of worship, teaching, and outreach. Through worship we offer a traditional service with a strong music program and a multisensory approach to allow the congregation to grow in the spirit of Christ. Our sanctuary supports the hearing impaired and is handicapped accessible. Through a renewed emphasis on adult education, we maintain a Sunday School class while offering a weekly evening class focusing on current humanitarian need. As outreach, we support several long- standing National and International mission partnerships. We serve our local community addressing food insecurity, improved wellness, and sharing fellowship through the love of music.

Our Pastor

Rev. Rebecca Taylor began her duties as our Pastor on October 31, 2021. Pastor Rebecca comes to us from the First Presbyterian Church of Warren, Pennsylvania, where she preached for about four and a half years. Before going to Warren, she served at several churches in four different states as their installed pastor. She brings us her lifelong Presbyterian experience, her familiarity with small towns and an enthusiasm for leading churches.  Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Furman University in Greenville, SC and was ordained after receiving a Masters of Divinity from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia.

Rebecca has served congregations large and small, urban and rural. Full time. Part time. Mostly in North Carolina. Recently in Northwestern Pennsylvania. She is deeply committed to ministry in Chiapas, Mexico through Hebron USA.

Rebecca enjoys God’s creation both on foot and in a kayak. She gardens and bakes and writes poetry, music, and newspaper articles. She loves to dance and sing and live for her Lord! Please join with us in welcoming Rebecca to Hillsville Presbyterian Church, Hillsville and Carroll County.
